Practical Assessment Summary

Your practical assessment is workplace based and must be completed with 14 days of taking your Module 2 exam. It involves carrying out a health and safety inspection of a workplace and preparing a fire risk assessment management report.

The process is covered during your 4 days of intensive learning during Module 2. The process of creating a report is explained and you are also supplied with examples of the correct format.

You are responsible for submitting your assessment within the 14 day period after your Module 2 written exam. If assessments are not submitted by this time you will fail the course.


NEBOSH Fire Certificate Course Objectives

On successful completion of the NEBOSH Fire Certificate you will be able to:

Understand the legal framework relating to fire and health & safety

Appreciate the purpose and procedures of investigating fires in the workplace

Outline the principles behind ignition and spread of fire and explosion in work premises

Identify the causes of fire and explosion and outline appropriate control measures to minimise fire risks

Advise on the means of fire protection and prevention of fire spread within buildings

Advise on the development and maintenance of a fire evacuation procedure

Use a simple fire risk assessment technique to determine risk levels and assess the adequacy of controls


Upon successful completion of all three modules, you will be awarded the NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management


The NEBOSH Certificate is accepted by IOSH – the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health – in meeting the academic requirements for Technician Membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH). It is also accepted by The International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) for associate membership.
