NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate Course NG1 Course Agenda


4 Days NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety FSC1 (one day per week for 4 weeks plus OBE)

The online course is delivered online via zoom video conferencing. The learning materials are structured and delivered in a format to get you familiar to the 'new Open Book Exam questions' style. These are shared digitally during the tutor led learning via zoom screen share and also made available via the RISK NEBOSH Personal Learning Zone at the end of each day.

 

Day 1 - Managing Fire Safety

Why is it important to manage safely?
Sources of Health and Safety Law
Structure of the Courts
Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015

 

Day 2 -  Sources of Fuel, Oxygen and Ignition Sources

Principles of the combustion process
Principles and conditions for ignition of solids, liquids and gases
Classifications of fires
Principles of fire growth and fire spread
Principles of explosion and explosive combustion
Causes & Prevention of Fires
Workplace sources of ignition / Construction site sources of ignition
Arson
Minimising the risks from Arson and storage of flammable substances
Fire Safety Audits/Safe Waste Disposal
Safe Systems of Work for Fire Safety

 

Day 3 -  Fire Emergency Plans

Building construction and design – preventative measures
Means of escape
Fire detection and fire alarms
Means of fighting fires
Access & facilities for the fire service for fire fighting
Steps to minimise the environmental impact of fire and fire fighting operations

 

Day 4 -  The Need to Carry Out a Fire Risk Assessment

Purpose and content of a typical fire emergency plan
The development and maintenance of a fire evacuation procedures
The perception and behaviour of people in the event of a fire
Appropriate training requirements
Fire risk assessment - definition of hazard and risk & objectives of risk assessment
Outcomes of incidents and differences between different types of incident
